Westerlo is facing serious consequences as vice president Hasan Cetinkaya receives a suspension following a heated confrontation with referees during the match against Antwerp. The match saw Westerlo play with ten men for 80 minutes after an early red card, leading to significant commotion in the player tunnel. Cetinkaya accused the referees of racism and corruption, resulting in a six-match suspension, three of which are effective, along with a fine of €4,500. The Disciplinary Committee deemed his behavior 'totally unacceptable'. Sporting director Francesco Carratta and team representative Baturalp Soydas were also involved in the incident, leading to a €2,500 fine for the club itself. Westerlo has since taken measures to prevent such incidents from happening again, including restricting the access rights of the involved officials.
